Evil Dead (1981)

For Halloween movies on Netflix, you should miss Evil Dead, a cult classic of the horror genre.

Plot: Ashley “Ash” Williams (Bruce Campbell), his girlfriend and three pals hike into the woods to a cabin for a fun night away. There they find an old book, the Necronomicon, whose text reawakens the dead when it’s read aloud. The friends inadvertently release a flood of evil and must fight for their lives or become one of the evil dead. Ash watches his friends become possessed, and must make a difficult decision before daybreak to save his own life in this, the first of Sam Raimi’s trilogy.

Plot: What are the best Netflix horror movies or what are the best scary movies on Netflix? The answer is nowhere but the Scream franchise, that revitalized the slasher-horror genre.

In this modern horror classic, which manages to be funny, clever, and scary, a fright-masked knife maniac stalks high-school students in middle-class suburbia. Craven is happy to provide both tension and self-parody as the body count mounts – but the victims aren’t always the ones you’d expect.

I Know What You Did Last Summer

Plot: As a horror fan, you must have listened or at least heard about this franchise.

The story is about Julie and her fellow student friends who receive a frightening letter telling their crime last summer was seen. While pursuing who is responsible for the letter, one of four involving students is run over by a man with a meat hook. The bloodletting only increases from there, as the killer with the hook continues to stalk Julie, Helen, Ray and kills one by one.

The Haunting Of Hill House

Plot: This series is always praised as one of the best scary movies on Netflix. With its atmospheric, suspense, mysterial storyline, and scene, The Haunting Of Hill House is definitely worth all the hype.

The plot alternates between two timelines, following five adult siblings whose paranormal experiences at Hill House continue to haunt them in the present day, and flashbacks depicting events leading up to the eventful night in 1992 when the family fled from the mansion.

The Haunting Of Bly Manor

Plot: Another successful horror series from The Haunting Of Hill House director, Mike Flanagan.

Bly Manor tells the story of the wealthy Wingrave family and their employees, who occupy a country estate filled with the ghosts of everyone who dies on the premises. Unlike writer-director Mike Flanagan’s first haunted house series, The Haunting of Hill House, which left many of the supernatural specifics up in the air even in its final episode, Bly Manor, which is based on Henry James’ The Turn of the Screw, pretty much spells out how all the spookiness went down.

Midnight Mass

Plot: Want some slow-burn mystery with an explosive ending? If so, Midnight Mass is all you need. This is another Creation from new horror master Mike Flanagan, there is no doubt with the series quality.

All seven episodes of Midnight Mass are streaming free now on TeaTV. If you’re reading this post, you probably know the show has a high chance of being one of the best Netflix horror movies of the year.

Midnight Mass sees Riley Flynn, a man haunted by a drunk driving accident, return to his hometown on Crockett Island, where he struggles to find a purpose in life. Enter the mysterious Father Paul. What are Father Paul’s intentions? Why did he have red eyes in the series trailer? Is he the… devil?

No One Sleeping In The Wood Tonight

Plot: Netflix’s Nobody Sleeps in the Woods Tonight doesn’t have that complex of a plot as it deals with a crew of campers who run into mutant brothers in the Polish backwoods. The monstrous twins have finally broken free from their mom’s home and have decided to hunt the teens for food. However, as gory and intense as it gets, the movie has some very nasty plot holes that detract away from the audience taking things a bit more seriously.

Strangers From Hell

Plot: We can see how Netflix invest a lot of Korean movies these days while a bunch of Korean contents on air on this streaming service with many outstanding names like Strangers From Hell, Squid game, #Alive, The Call, etc. So today, for scary movies on Netflix, this list couldn’t be completed without any film from “The Land Of Kimchi”. The brightest candidates call Strangers From Hell.

Strangers From Hell tells the story of Yoon Jong Woo, who is a young guy in his 20s, who moved from the countryside to Seoul after his college friend, Jae Ho, offered him a job. While looking for a place to live, he stumbles upon Eden Gosiwon, a cheap apartment that shares the kitchen and bathroom with other residents. He is not thrilled about the quality of the place or the other abnormal residents, such as his next-door neighbor Seo Moon Jo, a charismatic dentist. Nevertheless, Jong Woo decides to put up with it for 6 months until he saves enough money to move out. However, mysterious events start occurring in the apartment, causing Jong Woo to start fearing the apartment’s residents.

Annabelle Comes Home

Plot: Determined to keep Annabelle from wreaking more havoc, paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren lock the possessed doll in the artifacts room in their house. But when the doll awakens the room’s evil spirits, it soon becomes an unholy night of terror for the couple’s 10-year-old daughter, her friends and their young baby sitter.

Chucky 2

Plot: Two years after serial killer Charles Lee Ray inserted his soul into a Chucky doll, a toy company attempts to re-create the doll, bringing Ray back in the process. Andy’s foster sister, Kyle, tries to protect him, but his foster parents believe Andy is just a troubled kid — and Chucky’s murderous path continues.

They soon face a bloody night of terror when a masked serial killer turns the horror theme park into his own personal playground.

Plot: All your worst fears about the internet are true. Blumhouse’s Unfriended delivers all the chills and thrills of a high school prank gone wrong in classic slasher movie fashion, but ingeniously updates it for the 21st century with a gimmick that becomes thematically essential: everything is documented on a computer screen.

Six friends get the shock of their lives when they receive a message from their deceased friend while video chatting. While they think it is a prank, they are soon exposed to some unruly events.

Plot: Still recovering from Mike Flanagan’s Midnight Mass? Well, that story appears in the form of an Easter egg here in Flanagan’s first collaboration with Netflix. A deaf author is besieged by a masked murderer and must rely on all of her other senses to survive in this taut nail-biter. Kate Siegel, Flanagan’s frequent collaborator and partner, pulls double-duty as a writer and star.

Plot:  Kiersey Clemons stars as a young woman who gets shipwrecked on a seemingly deserted island where something terrifying awaits in the waters should she try to leave. Creature-feature fans are in for quite the ride with this one, just don’t sleep on the film’s larger themes.

The Ritual

Plot: Another four fellow friends in this list of scary movies on Netflix. Reuniting after the tragic death of their friend, four college pals set out to hike through the Scandinavian wilderness. Boys, blood, and bad intentions await in a sleepy Indiana town.
